  • Information on  Scholarships:

    The Charles A. Farnham Business Scholarship is in honor of an individual who was very active with the Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Farnham’s professional background and employment focus was in industrial relations at Northwestern Steel and Wire where he was a Vice-President.  Individuals who are pursuing a curriculum of business or industrial relations or an approved business/industrial relations field are eligible to apply for this one year, $1000.00 scholarship. This year The Student must be attending Newman Central Catholic High School, Rock Falls High School, or Sterling High School. The application deadline for the Charles A. Farnham Scholarship is April 1, 2020.

    The Agricultural Scholarship is awarded by the Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce Agribusiness Committee. Scholarship money is available to individuals pursuing a degree in the field of agriculture and applicants must be a current student or resident of the Sauk Valley Area. Five Scholarships in the amount of $1500.00 will be awarded to a student attending any school in the WACC service area.The Agribusiness committee has also designated two scholarships of $750.00 to a current or prospective student who will be attending Sauk Valley Community College enrolled in the Ag Program. The application deadline for the Agricultural Scholarship is March 1, 2019.

    The SVACC will award $2000.00 in manufacturing scholarships.  For the 2019-2020 School year, four scholarships for $500.00 each will be awarded.  All applicants must be current residents or students in the Sauk Valley Area.  This scholarship is open to students who are current Seniors in a WACC high school, a current student at SVCC or MIT, or a current resident of the Sauk Valley area who will be attending SVCC or MIT. The application deadline for the Manufacturing scholarship is March 1, 2020.



    2019 Ag Scholarship Recipients:

    Each year the Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce awards scholarships to assist area students in pursuing their dream of a college education. This year, the chamber awarded 6 local students with scholarships to continue their education for the 2018-2019 academic year. Funds for the scholarships come from fundraisers held throughout the year.

    The Chamber also awards the Charles A. Farnham Scholarship which was established in 1968 and honors the late Mr. Farnham who was an active member of the Chamber.  Mr. Farnham’s professional background was focused in the area of industrial relations, serving in this capacity at Northwestern Steel and Wire.

    The 2020 Agricultural Scholarship winners will be introduced at the Annual Steak Fry in the Country in August 2020.
