June Jam Music Festival
On Sunday, June 25, 2017, the John Deere Historic Site will host the 4th annual June Jam Music Festival. The event offers an opportunity for local musicians to perform on stage. Bluegrass, country, folk and light rock musicians are welcome to perform for the crowd. This year’s event will also feature a variety of crafters demonstrating and selling their wares. Basket weavers, broom and candle makers, quilters, lace makers and other crafters will be on site throughout the day. Musicians interested in performing should contact Ron Coleson at (815) 973-0942 with questions, or should simply show up ready to jam. Performances begin at 10:00 a.m. and run through 4:00 p.m. “The June Jam is a great opportunity to hear an eclectic group of local musicians while being surrounded by the beautiful grounds of the John Deere Historic Site,” said Kristen Veto, manager for the John Deere Historic Site. “In addition to enjoying a relaxing day of listening to music, guests can also experience all the Site has to offer including demonstrations by our blacksmith and guided tours of John Deere’s home.” Admission to the event is free. Picnic lunches are encouraged. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the grounds of the John Deere Historic Site. The John Deere Historic Site is a free attraction and is open seasonally, March through December. Located in Grand Detour, the site is the original Illinois homestead of John Deere and is the location where he built his first “self-scouring” steel plow.
