STERLING – The Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business Committee is hosting the 31st annual Steak Fry in the Country, Thursday, August 6th at 6:00 p.m. at Gerken Farms in rural Sterling. This annual event, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, allows the          Agri-Business committee to raise money for the Agri-Business scholarship program. 2015 Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business Scholarship winners are Krista Temple of Fulton who attends University of Illinois at Urbana, Christopher Bauer of Prophetstown who attends University of Illinois at Urbana and Meghan Clodfelter a 2015 Sterling High School graduate.

Kurt Stutzke’s band IN’NA Jam will entertain the crowd. In addition, the now famous dessert auction continues to feature desserts made by Agri-Business Committee members. During the event the Chamber will recognize the 2015 scholarship recipients.

The Steak Fry in the Country is an opportunity for Chamber members, agri-businesses, farmers, and others can come together to raise money for scholarships, discuss agricultural issues and enjoy an evening of networking over steak.

Money raised from the steak fry helps provide future agriculture scholarships as well as a donation to the Whiteside County Ag in the Classroom program and Whiteside County 4-H Program. This event is open to the public. Tickets are $20 and are available at the Chamber Office located at 211 Locust Street in Sterling or from a member of the Chamber’s agri-business committee.
