The Illinois Connection: Lincoln, Grant, Reagan, and Obama
The next program hosted by the Sterling-Rock Falls Historical Society is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at the CGH Medical Center’s Ryberg Auditorium, 100 East LeFevre, Sterling.
Ronald H. Koehn, a retired social studies teacher at Fulton High School, will present a PowerPoint program entitled “The Illinois Connection: Lincoln, Grant, Reagan, and Obama.”
Since it was admitted to the Union as the twenty-first state in 1818, Illinois has had a connection with four of the men who have served the United States of America as its Chief Executive, though none of them were lifelong residents. Koehn will present a review of their time in the Prairie State of Illinois and a brief review of their overall careers.
Ron Koehn earned both of his degrees at Illinois State University in Normal: a Bachelor of Science in Education, majoring in history and minoring in political science, and a Master of Science in history. A social studies instructor at Fulton High School from 1974 to 2003, he primarily taught United States history, sociology, and American government. He presents historical programs with the assistance of his wife Connie, a former social studies teacher and John Deere retiree.
